When the Ravens acquired wide receiver Chris Givens at the beginning of October, it appeared to be a perfect match — a fast wide receiver who can get downfield for a strong-armed quarterback, Joe Flacco, to hit for big plays.
Givens, who came from the St. Louis Rams in exchange for a conditional seventh-round NFL draft pick, worked hard with Flacco over the ensuing six weeks to develop that chemistry.
He climbed up the depth chart into what many hoped would be a featured role in the second half of the season, especially with the season-ending injury to wide receiver Steve Smith Sr.
