The Baltimore Ravens are one of the few NFL teams to not use Captain patches, a rule implemented by NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell and NFLPA in 2007. At least, they were. For the first time in team history, the Baltimore Ravens are wearing captain patches on their uniforms as they face the Pittsburgh Steelers in the 2024 NFL Playoffs in the Wild Card round.
Since John Harbaugh became the Ravens’ head coach in 2008, the Ravens have done weekly designated captains, rotating anywhere from three to six players.
The change of regular season weekly designated captains to postseason captain patches is the same practice as the Green Bay Packers.
