Last offseason, the Ravens made a ‘splash’ in free agency when they signed safety Tony Jefferson. Many thought that pairing Jefferson with Eric Weddle would give Baltimore one of, if not the best safety duo in the league. Unfortunately, that was far from the case during the 2017 season.
Jefferson vastly under performed and seemingly struggled to find his role in the Ravens’ defense. According to Pro Football Focus, he missed 11 tackles last year. Not to mention, he struggled in coverage as well. The Ravens struggled mightily against opposing tight ends. They gave up the 10th most yards to opposing tight ends, while allowing the eighth most receiving touchdowns to tight ends as well.
