Will Hill is the odd man out at the Ravens’ crowded safety position.
Two days after reaching a four-year agreement with safety Eric Weddle, the Ravens released Hill, a 14-game starter last season. The move creates just over $3 million in salary cap space and paves the way for converted cornerback Lardarius Webb to start alongside Weddle in 2016.
It’s an interesting decision by the Ravens, given that Hill, 26, was arguably the team’s top performing safety last season, and he signed a two-year, $7 million contract extension about seven months ago.
