The Baltimore Ravens made another shrewd acquisition in the second wave of free agency Friday when they signed veteran cornerback Jerraud Powers.
A seven-year starter for the Arizona Cardinals and Indianapolis Colts, Powers is expected to compete with Shareece Wright for the starting job opposite of Jimmy Smith. Powers visited with the Giants and Cardinals last month before choosing the Ravens.
Powers lacks size at 5-foot-10 but he has ball skills, and that is needed for a pass defense that ranked last in the NFL with six interceptions last year.
