Ravens defensive line coach Clarence Brooks is constantly talking to his players about fighting through adversity.
This season, Brooks is waging his own fight. The team’s 11th-year assistant acknowledged Monday in an interview with The Baltimore Sun and Ravens productions that he has been diagnosed with esophageal cancer.
Brooks, 64, last week finished chemotherapy and radiation treatment, which he had undergone throughout this season. He is scheduled to get the tumor removed from his esophagus in January or February.
He has not been able to attend all of the Ravens’ road trips during the season, and in other games he’s coached from the press box rather than his usual spot on the sideline.
