Ravens’ defensive improvements result of ‘guys who want to play will, or they’ll sit on the sideline’

Almost a month ago, the Ravens defense was scorched by the Cincinnati Bengals in a 35-34 win. After the game, cornerback Marlon Humphrey said it was getting harder to enjoy the wins because of the pass defenses’ performance, which allowed Joe Burrow to throw for over 800 yards and nine touchdowns against the Ravens.

But since that game, the Ravens’ defense has vastly improved. They didn’t allow a touchdown to the Pittsburgh Steelers in an 18-16 loss. The Steelers finished with 181 passing yards and went 4-of-15 on third down. They held the Los Angeles Chargers to 200 passing yards (285 total net yards), and allowed five third-down conversions on 14 attempts (36%) in a 30-23 win.
