The longest-tenured coach on the Ravens staff has been fighting esophageal cancer this season, the team announced Monday.
Defensive line coach Clarence Brooks has been in coaching for 23 years and with the Ravens since 2005, back when Brian Billick was head coach. Brooks, 64, came to Baltimore from stints in Miami, Cleveland and Chicago.
Brooks told The Baltimore Sun he finished chemotherapy and radiation last week, and is scheduled to get the tumor removed in January or February. Brooks hasn't been on all the team's road trips this year, and has spent other games coaching from the press box instead of the sideline.
