I get that the NFL wants to continually refine its product to enhance the fan experience. After all, fans are their true customers and without them billions of dollars in TV revenue would go away like The Godfather.
But the ongoing tinkering of the rules, which essentially pushes the NFL game closer and closer to that of Arena Football, has a counterproductive effect on the league’s alleged desire to improve the fan experience.
How many of you immediately look for a flag during a kick or punt return? I don’t have the numbers in front of me but just eye-balling it, I’d guess that 25% of such returns are negated by a penalty.
