Ted Marchibroda, who died Saturday at the age of 84, didn't bring a winning season as the first coach in Baltimore Ravens history. He did, however, leave a legacy in his three seasons with the fledgling Ravens.
Marchibroda was the one who defined “Play Like A Raven” long before the franchise adopted it as its mantra.
Most coaches want the biggest and fastest players on their team. For Marchibroda, he eyed the ones who had a passion for the game and wanted to practice. General manager Ozzie Newsome has talked about how that remains part of the Ravens’ foundation for scouting players.
