The NFL finally made up their mind after the migraine-inducing complaints from fans, coaches, players and broadcasters. An adjustment on the NFL’s catch rule was voted upon today, passing unanimously, 32-0.
- Control of the ball
- Two feet down or another body part
- A football move, such as:
a. A third step;
b. Reaching/extending for the line-to-gain;
c. Or the ability to perform such an act.What’s important in this change, as this feels rather similar to the old rules, is the ‘going-to-the-ground” component.
I highly doubt this will quell the complaints of, “What is a catch?
