OWINGS MILLS, Md. -- The NFL had a confidential meeting at the annual league meetings last month on how to improve the combine, Baltimore Ravens general manager Ozzie Newsome said Wednesday.
Newsome, who is on the league's competition committee, said the "major discussion" included owners, head coaches and general managers.
"The process has to remain pure," Newsome said at the team's pre-draft press conference. "I think that gives the players the time and the opportunity that they need, and it gives us what we need to properly evaluate the players."
Newsome added that the intent is "to respect" the candidates involved in the process.
