The argument for Matt Elam being a complete draft bust just got some new ammunition.
Today, the Ravens announced that the safety had been suspended one game for violating the league's policy on substance abuse.
The ailing Elam was already sidelined for the year with a torn biceps, and was placed on the injured reserve before the season began. Because of this, Elam will serve his suspension for a game that he wasn't going to be in anyway. He will serve his suspension this Sunday, and will lose one game check, or about $60,000.
While neither the Ravens nor the league has disclosed what the exact violation is, it's reasonable to suspect that the culprit is marijuana, or a similar substance, as the league typically hands down 1-week suspensions for such an offense.
