ANNAPOLIS — The Maryland Senate gave preliminary approval Thursday to a sports betting bill. It allows legalized gambling on professional sports to begin as early as this fall.
Senate changes to a House sports betting bill authorizes daily wagering at Baltimore's professional sports stadiums. The newly amended legislation allows for an unlimited number of digital and in person betting licenses in five categories.
Millions of dollars generated each year would go to education funding.
