Cameron Sanders plays football for the Owings Mills Wolfpack, coached by his stepdad, Daronta Briggs.
It’s a dream come true for the two, which was only made possible by generosity and a life-saving procedure.
After being diagnosed with end stage kidney disease in 2008, Briggs spent four long years on dialysis. In 2012, he received the transplant thanks to his generous donor, Amber, and the life-saving transplant team at Walter Reed Medical Center.
“I was so excited and happy when Papa D got his kidney because before he was not able to go anywhere and he did not have a lot of strength because of dialysis,” Cameron, 13, said.
