OWINGS MILLS, Md. -- The Baltimore Ravens technically sit alone atop the AFC North because they hold the head-to-head tiebreaker edge over the Pittsburgh Steelers.
So, why does the Football Power Index only give Baltimore a 31.6 percent chance of winning the division? It comes down to whom the Ravens are playing in the final four weeks of the regular season.
Baltimore (7-5) is projected to play the toughest remaining schedule in the NFL. Pittsburgh (7-5), meanwhile, has the sixth-easiest one.
In other words, if the Ravens win the division or clinch a playoff berth, they will deserve that spot based on the level of difficulty of the final quarter of the regular season.
