Seven-year NFL veteran Eugene Monroe, in theory, could have plenty of years of football ahead of him. He even got interest from several teams. But just one month after the Baltimore Ravens released the offensive tackle, he's calling it a career.
In a piece for The Players' Tribune, he cited fears of Chronic traumatic encephalopathy (commonly known as CTE) and other lasting head injuries common among football players.
"The last 18 years have been full of traumatic injuries to both my head and my body. I’m not complaining, just stating a fact," he wrote. "Has the damage to my brain already been done?
