After 11 years in the NFL, former Broncos, Ravens and 49ers linebacker Elvis Dumervil announced his retirement today.
Dumervil spent his first seven seasons with Denver after being drafted out of Louisville in the fourth round of the 2006 NFL Draft. He joined Baltimore in 2013, signing a five-year deal worth $35 million. In 2014, Dumervil set the Ravens franchise record for most the sacks in a season with a whopping 17, a sack total he previously reached in 2009 with the Broncos. Dumervil and Terrell Suggs were among the league’s best pass rushing duo that year, combining for the most sacks in the league among two players and garnering the nickname “Doom and Sizzle.
