Back in the days of my youth we would often play pickup football games in the park, playground, back alley or even out on the streets.
“Go to the Pinto and do a button hook.”
Sometimes during the pickup games there might be a debate over the outcome of a play. The NFL solves such debates with the use of replay. As a kid, we solved them with, “take it over!”
And so we did. “Take it over” is the forefather of the modern day “do over”.
When Joe Flacco watches the film of the Ravens game against the Cowboys, he would welcome a Dallas do over!
