Ed Reed, the game-changing safety, was elected Saturday to the Pro Football Hall of Fame, all but a formality for the Baltimore Ravens legend.
His election was announced during the nationally-televised NFL Honors. Reed will be enshrined on Saturday Aug. 3 in Canton, Ohio as part of a weekend of events, concluding the Hall of Fame Game.
Reed follows linebacker Ray Lewis, who was inducted last year. He will be the third Raven to enter the hall of fame. Offensive tackle Jonathan Ogden was the first.
Ogden said in 2015 he was immediately struck by Reed's commitment to the game.
