Dennis Pitta to restructure contract with Ravens, cracking open door for comeback

Dennis Pitta has informed Ravens officials that he wants to try another comeback after twice fracturing and dislocating his right hip.

Given the team's roster situation, it almost certainly won't be under his current contract.

The veteran tight end is scheduled to earn $5 million this season, and an additional $11 million over the following two years. None of it is guaanteed, though, and the Ravens are otherwise deep at tight end.

A restructured deal could keep Pitta in Baltimore, where he has played parts of five seasons.

Pitta is scheduled to join his teammates for the start of the offseason workout program Monday.
