Baltimore Ravens owner Steve Bisciotti said Friday that longtime general manager Ozzie Newsome will step down at the end of his contract after next season.
After the 2013 Super Bowl victory, Bisciotti said he talked with Newsome, who agreed to rework his contract into a five-year extension. When Newsome, 61, retires, he will hand over the reins to assistant general manager Eric DeCosta.
"Ozzie will step down as GM and has assured me he's not going anywhere, and will work with me and work with Eric on a smooth transition," Bisciotti said.
Newsome has been an executive with the team since 1991, when the Ravens were still the Cleveland Browns.
