Baltimore Raven’s beat reporter Jeff Zrebiec broke the news today that the Baltimore Ravens have signed Michael Campanaro to a deal. The deal is for 1-year with a max of $2 million. According to Zrebiec, the Ravens have opened up $600K in cap space with the move.
The Ravens placed an original round tender on Campanaro last month. It meant that they would receive a compensatory pick (7th rounder) if Campanaro was signed by another team. But now that he has signed a new deal, he is no longer a restricted free agent. The cap space could be crucial in bringing in a veteran free agent such as an Anquan Boldin or Nick Mangold.
