Baltimore Ravens release FS Lardarius Webb

The Baltimore Ravens have released longtime defensive back Lardarius Webb, according to Jeff Zerbiec’s sources:

The Webb move seemed inevitable after the Ravens signing of Tony Jefferson. Move creates $5.5 million of salary cap space.

Webb has played every season of his eight year career in Baltimore. A third round draft pick in the 2009 draft from Nicholls State, Lardarius earned a lucrative contract 6-year $52 million contract extension for his stellar coverage and ballhawking at cornerback in 2012. Unfortunately, a series of knee and back injuries sapped his ability in recent seasons.
