At 2-7, Ravens players don't need to risk further injury

The Ravens aren’t out of the playoff picture mathematically, but there is already a shift to looking toward next season.

Ravens coach John Harbaugh announced Wednesday that center Jeremy Zuttah was going on injured reserve with a partially torn pectoral muscle. I assume if the Ravens thought they had a chance of making it to the postseason, Zuttah might have gutted it out with the injury for the rest of the season.

But after losing to Jacksonville Sunday and dropping to 2-7, there is no longer any need for Zuttah to play. He might as well heal and get ready for next season.
