Many were skeptical when former Baltimore Ravens safety Ed Reed said he wanted to be considered for the head coaching job at the University of Miami, his alma mater.
One person who wasn't? Current Buffalo Bills head coach Rex Ryan, who was an assistant on the Ravens from 1999-2008. Ryan says he things he will be a head coach not in college, but in the NFL, sooner rather than later.
"When we had him his last year with the Jets, he was the pied piper," Ryan said, via ESPN.com's Mike Rodak. "They all followed him and they all learned from the game. And that's why I know this guy's going to be a great coach.
"I would not be shocked if Ed Reed ends up being a head coach within five years. That's how quick this dude's going to rise. Teaching guys how to study tape, how to get things going, playing the game."
Reed is getting his first crack at coaching with Ryan's Bills this year, serving as the team's assistant defensive backs coach.
