The Baltimore Ravens worked out former Houston Texans QB Ryan Mallett on Wednesday. The team has Matt Schaub and Jimmy Clausen on the roster, but appear open to making a change at QB.
Mallett was cut by the Texans near the end of October after he missed a team flight. Mallett played in six games for the Texans, including a few starts. He completed 53.1 percent of his passes, 770 yards, 3 TDs and 4 picks.
Mallett has battled off-the-field issues with the Texans and in college at Arkansas. It's why he slipped to the third round of the NFL Draft in 2011, where the Patriots drafted him.
With Joe Flacco out for the season, the Ravens started Schaub against the Cleveland Browns, but Schaub struggled in the win. He completed 20 of 34 passes for 232 yards, two touchdowns and two picks. One of those picks was returned for a touchdown, an issue that plagued Schaub in his last year with the Texans.
If the Ravens were to sign Mallett, they would need to clear a roster spot.
