In this Ravens news bulletin, Baltimore Ravens starting tight end Dennis Pitta underwent hip surgery on Tuesday, ending his 2014 season after just three weeks.
Per Tom Pelissero of USA Today, head coach John Harbaugh confirmed that the surgery will keep Pitta from returning until next year:

Pitta dislocated his hip in the Ravens' 23-21 victory over the Cleveland Browns on Sunday. He attempted to turn upfield after a catch when his entire leg gave way, forcing him to crumple to the ground untouched.
He was subsequently carted off the field and taken to an area hospital for tests. The Ravens had initially feared that his hip dislocation would be accompanied by a season-ending fracture - fears which proved valid on Monday.
With Pitta out, Owen Daniels will take on starting duties at tight end. Daniels has plenty of experience in offensive coordinator Gary Kubiak's system, having played for Kubiak when he was the head coach of the Houston Texans.
