The Baltimore Ravens lost yet another key player during their game against the St. Louis Rams Sunday. Justin Forsett broke his arm and it's likely he won't be able to play again this season.
The Ravens have other running backs on the roster, but none as talented as Forsett. After all, he was their starting RB for a reason. Buck Allen took over for Forsett when he went down, and he was okay. He'll likely be the stater, but the Ravens are thin on depth now that Forsett is hurt. The team added Terrance West, but he struggled with the Titans this season and even the Browns didn't want him. Raheem Mostert is also on the roster, but he hasn't done anything this season. He flashed a bit of talent in the preseason with the Eagles, but both the Dolphins and Eagles cut him this year.
With limited depth and Forsett out, the Ravens might add someone to replace Forsett on the active roster. With that in mind, here are five players the Ravens could sign to replace Justin Forsett.
5. Ray Rice
Every time an NFL team has needed an RB this season, Rice's name pops up. I'm not a big fan of his, because I think he's washed up as a running back. In his last season with the Ravens, he put up a meager 3.1 yards per carry. He's a 28-year-old RB who hasn't played recently, so there is cause for concern. However, don't be surprised if his name comes up, especially among fans. Rice knowing the offense helps, but it'd be a bit of a surprise to see Baltimore welcome him back.
4. Montee Ball
Ball didn't make the Broncos' roster, but still has some talent. He has limited upside in the passing game, but offers value as a workhorse type back. He's worth brining in for a workout, even if the Ravens don't sign him.
3. Ben Tate
Tate hasn't played in an NFL game since last season, but he still has some talent. He did get a workout with the Chiefs when Charles went down, so he's at least on the minds of NFL teams. There is no harm in bringing him for a workout and seeing what he has left.
2. Bryce Brown
Brown is quick, shifty and worth a look. He was recently cut by the Buffalo Bills and had a workout with the Chiefs when Jamaal Charles went down. He has some potential, and is young enough to merit consideration beyond this season. That last part is key, as the Ravens likely won't add a veteran since they have little chance of making the playoffs.
1. Terrence Magee
Magee is a rookie undrafted free agent out of LSU that is currently on the practice squad. He already knows the offense, which is a big boost for his chances. He's been on the active roster before and he'll likely get the call up again now that Forsett is out. It makes perfect sense.
