The Baltimore Ravens had a surprisingly down season last year, posting one of the worst records in the NFL. Head coach John Harbaugh and the rest of the team is looking to show that this season is just a blip on the radar and not a growing trend - and we believe that's the case. Here are four reasons why they're guaranteed to return to the playoffs this season:
4) Elite offensive line
The Ravens allowed just 24 sacks last season - good for third fewest in the league - and that was emblematic of a 2014 campaign that saw the O-line dominate both in run blocking and against the pass rush. Losing Eugene Monroe will hurt, but first-round pick Ronnie Stanley will slide right into the starting lineup and make a big impact.
3) Return of Terrell Suggs
Suggs' absence was prevalent in in more ways than one last season. Not only did Baltimore's defense lack his pass-rushing prowess, but they desperately missed his leadership and the attitude he brought to the table. With him back in the fold, the Ravens will look more like the team we've come to expect.
2) Full complement of weapons
2015 first-round pick Breshad Perriman will finally get his chance to make his debut this year, and he was the premiere clutch receiver in this draft when it comes to slipping coverage in the red zone, and his ability to be an elite deep threat will give this offense the explosive weapon they need. Steve Smith and Justin Forsett are also back, and if they can get good play out of Kamar Aiken, this group could be explosive.
1) Joe Flacco
Let's get one thing straight: Joe Flacco earned his $120 million contract because of his postseason play, but he has emerged as the real leader and a stabilizing force for this young Ravens team. He's now one of the most consistent and reliable quarterbacks in the league, and now that he has his full complement of weapons, his production should get back to normal.
