Wednesday’s Bird Droppings: Where the Orioles offense is asleep

Baseball is kind of dumb sometimes.

Any good feelings you may have had about the Orioles coming out of the series against the Yankees are now well and truly gone. A return to Baltimore has coincided with a suddenly fantastic starting staff and a frustratingly impotent offense.

Andrew Cashner delivered his second consecutive impressive start (7 IP, 0 R, 4 H, 3 BB, 6 SO) on Tuesday. Meanwhile, the O’s lineup was busy being no-hit by Blue Jays starter Aaron Sanchez into the eighth inning. The bats were able to rally in that frame to draw things level at a run apiece but the middle of the order was unable to bring in the go-ahead run from third base with no outs.
