Vance Worley pitches well, but Orioles still lose to Blue Jays, 4-3

DUNEDIN, Fla. – The Orioles were coming off a couple of very rough outings from their starting rotation, so Vance Worley’s two hitless innings on Friday had to be a breath of fresh Gulf Coast air even if the Toronto Blue Jays would eventually defeat the O’s, 4-3, at Florida Auto Exchange Stadium.

Worley, who’s competing for either an unexpected opening in the starting rotation or a long relief/spot starter role, pitched to seven batters and allowed just a first-inning walk against a fairly representative Jays lineup.

“The first inning I had to find it a little bit,’’ he said.
