Is anyone else feeling dizzy? Discombobulated? Disoriented?
We’ve just witnessed one of the craziest trade-deadline days — no, one of the craziest DAYS, period — in Orioles history. The O’s dove full-on into their rebuild by trading away Kevin Gausman and Darren O’Day to the Braves and Jonathan Schoop to the Brewers before today’s 4 p.m. non-waiver deadline, getting back seven players and international signing bonus slot money.
I’m still floored. I know these guys had been discussed in trade rumors recently, and the O’s had already traded Manny Machado, Zach Britton, and Brad Brach, but I wasn’t convinced the front office would actually deal players who weren’t pending free agents.
