NATIONAL HARBOR, Md. -- The Orioles have made it pretty clear that they'd like to re-sign free-agent outfielder Mark Trumbo, with executive vice president of baseball operations Dan Duquette confirming Sunday night that Baltimore had indeed been in serious talks in offering the slugger a deal.
According to a MASNSports.com report Monday, the proposed offer to Trumbo is for four years. While Trumbo's camp is reportedly looking for a deal in the $80 million range, the O's could backload the deal to give them flexibility, as they've done for other bigger contracts in the past.
Trumbo, who led the Majors with 47 homers in 2016 amid a breakout season in Baltimore, declined the club's qualifying offer earlier this offseason.
