Struggling reliever Chaz Roe placed on disabled list, Orioles recall Mychal Givens

The Orioles placed struggling reliever Chaz Roe on the 15-day disabled list with right shoulder tendinitis just before Monday's series opener against the Seattle Mariners and recalled right-handed pitcher Mychal Givens from Double-A Bowie to take his place in the Orioles bullpen.

Roe, who was the losing pitcher in the Orioles' 5-4 loss to the Los Angeles Angels on Sunday after yielding a leadoff double in the 11th inning, traveled back East on Monday morning to be evaluated by team doctors. Givens joined the team in Seattle Monday.

Tests on Roe's shoulder showed no structural damage.
