Orioles manager Buck Showalter and his family -- including wife Angela, son Nathan and their three dogs -- huddled in a closet for two hours as the deadly tornadoes ripped though the Dallas area on Saturday.
The storms that ravaged the central states caused extreme swings of temperature in the Dallas area and brought three strong tornadoes, one of which came within two miles of the Showalter home. The tornadoes killed at least 11 people, eight of them in automobiles that were lifted off an overpass on Interstate 30 in Garland, TX.
The Showalters sought protection in a closet because their Dallas home does not have a basement.
