Zach Eflin landed on the 15-day IL this week with shoulder inflammation, giving Orioles eight pitchers currently on the shelf. You could aptly describe the starting rotation with that meme:
How it Started: Corbin Burnes, Kyle Bradish, Grayson Rodriguez, John Means, Dean Kremer
How it’s Going: Burnes, Albert Suárez, Kremer, Trevor Rogers and Cade Povich (and intermittently, Cole Irvin)
This motley unit has a 4.65 ERA since July. Not great.
It’s been said that this is a year with no runaway teams. As trying as the Orioles’ recent play has been, the 74-win Baltimore is still tied for the best record in the AL with New York (and for that matter, in the NL, only the Dodgers have more wins, at 76, with Philly at 74).
