While Orioles fans enjoy the April spectacle of sluggers Chris Davis and Mark Trumbo hitting back-to-back and piling up home runs and RBIs, I'm still trying to figure out the logic of the deal that brought Trumbo here in exchange for backup catcher Steve Clevenger.
Not on the Orioles' side, of course. Trumbo made perfect sense on several levels. When the deal was made, the Orioles had no need for an optionless Clevenger and they had every reason to believe they would need a power bat and a first baseman to replace Davis, a free agent at the time.
