The rainiest July on record in Baltimore continued to impact this week’s Orioles homestand, with the start of Friday’s game against the Tampa Bay Rays delayed by inclement weather.
Friday’s marked the fifth rain delay in five days since the Orioles returned home this week, with two delays on Monday against the Boston Red Sox totalling one hour, a 27-minute delay on Tuesday, and a 2-hour, 33-minute delay on Wednesday before that game was ultimately postponed in the second inning.
Thursday’s game was dry, but before the Orioles could even finish batting practice Friday, the grounds crew broke down the hitting setup and replaced it with the tarp.
