Rafael Palmeiro Says Comeback Isn't About HOF Eligibility

At age 53, Rafael Palmeiro isn't counting out a comeback to MLB.

"I feel that I can do it. I've got two boys that are playing baseball in the minor leagues and for years I've worked with them," Palmeiro told MLB Network Friday morning. "When we go to the cages I swing the bat, do the weight lifting...The only thing I've haven't been doing is playing in games."

Palmeiro says he feels ready to play physically and mentally and that it is only a matter of getting an opportunity to prove himself.

The former Orioles first baseman says the only change in today's game he sees is more pitchers throwing harder.
