The Minnesota Twins must have a different book of unwritten baseball rules than the rest of us. They actually believe there is absolutely no reason Chance Sisco should have tried to bunt against Jose Berrios in the ninth inning of Sunday’s 7-0 loss to the Twins.
The unwritten rule applies to no-hitters. So the Twins may want to have one of their fine starting pitchers get to that point – and they were close Saturday – before they whine about an opposing player who lays down a bunt to try and jump-start a struggling offense.
The Twins left themselves open for the bunt by putting a dramatic defensive shift on a young catcher making his first start of the new season.
