Pearce optimistic elbow soreness won't linger

OAKLAND -- Outfielder Steve Pearce, who left Sunday's game with elbow soreness, remains optimistic he'll be ready to play soon.

Pearce, acquired by the Orioles from the Tampa Bay Rays at the non-waiver Trade Deadline, received a cortisone shot that should help calm the elbow.

"If the shot helps, then hopefully the thing will be behind us and I can get back to doing everyday stuff," Pearce said. "I'm optimistic. I'm not worried that this is a long-term thing, especially because I've had good results with the cortisone shot in the past."

Pearce said the elbow has been bothering him for a couple of months.
