Parmelee outrighted to Triple-A Norfolk

Parmelee, 27, batted .216 with four home runs and nine RBIs in 32 games for the Orioles this season after signing as a Minor League free agent in January. He played parts of three seasons with the Twins, and he is a .245 career hitter in the Majors.

"That's good news for [Norfolk manager Ron Johnson] and them," Showalter said."He's a good player."

• On Friday night, Angels center fielder Mike Trout threw out Adam Jones, his Orioles counterpart, at second base. On Saturday night, Jones threw Trout out at the plate -- with the help of a replay review -- to preserve a shutout.
