Korean outfielder Hyun Soo Kim will not be on the Orioles’ Opening Day roster.
The revelation by vice president Dan Duquette on Tuesday evening ended several days of speculation about Kim’s future, a stretch that has coincided with a lack of meaningful playing time for Kim in the Grapefruit League. On Sunday, a day after a Fox Sports report that the team had held early discussions about allowing Kim to go back to Korea, Showalter said Kim was competing for a spot before catching himself.
“That’s not completely true,” Showalter said Sunday.
