The O's jumped out to a three-run lead in the first inning, using a bases-loaded balk charged to White Sox starter Dylan Covey to get things going. Machado hit his fourth homer in six games, a solo shot in the second, and Mancini sent Covey's full-count pitch into left field for a two-run homer in the fifth.
Covey lasted just four-plus innings, allowing six runs on 10 hits to see his season ERA balloon to 8.28. The 25-year-old, who has five career Major League starts, is still searching for his first quality outing. Bundy, meanwhile, held the Sox to three runs in his seventh consecutive quality start.
