DETROIT -- On the second pitch that left Pedro Araujo's hand at Comerica Park, Dixon Machado hit a walk-off homer that capped a frustrating 6-5 walk-off series loss to the Tigers on Wednesday afternoon.
The O's, losers of seven of their past eight games, finally showed some signs of offense and got a quality start from Kevin Gausman. But it was the bullpen that let them down, as reliever Darren O'Day surrendered a pivotal three-run homer to John Hicks in the eighth.
Machado's walk-off shot, one of four Tigers homers, came just after Luis Sardinas tied the game with a leadoff home run off Detroit closer Shane Greene.
