The Orioles had a real crummy evening in Toronto. Before the game even started, Grayson Rodriguez was scratched with lat discomfort, and although his replacement did well, the O’s still lost 5-2 to open this series north of the border.
For one brief moment, however, it seemed the Orioles would claw this suddenly crappy day back into their favor.
Last-minute starter Albert Suárez wasn’t just good, he was excellent. Over five shutout innings, the veteran righty flummoxed the Blue Jays lineup. His fastball was lively, and his off-speed stuff was twisting hitters in knots. Maybe the Orioles should always wait until the last minute to tell Suárez that he is going to pitch?
