In an odd sequence of events, the Orioles claimed outfielder Drew Stubbs on waivers from the Rangers to help their outfield defense. To clear a roster spot, they designated left-hander Kyle Lobstein, whom they acquired from the Pirates in exchange for lefty Zach Phillips earlier in the day. They are also finalizing a deal with the D-backs for outfielder Michael Bourn, according to MLB Network Insider Jon Heyman. That deal has not been confirmed by the club.
Lefty Ashur Tolliver had been designated for assignment to make room for Lobstein on Baltimore's active roster.
