The Orioles are definitely very interested in left-handed Korean outfielder Hyun-soo Kim. They’ve made him a two-year offer worth roughly $3-to-$4 million per year, according to several industry sources.
The Orioles like the soon-to-be 28-year-old because he is a lifetime .318 hitter in nine-plus seasons in the Korean Baseball Organization and has tremendous on-base skills (.406 lifetime on-base percentage). He also has some pop, hitting a career-best 28 home runs last year, though that may translate to about 15-20 homers in the United States.
The Orioles are sorely lacking a contact hitter, and last year he had 101 walks and just 63 strikeouts.
