The Orioles will honor the legacy of their late Hall of Fame player and manager, Frank Robinson, with a patch on the right sleeve of their uniform in spring training and throughout the 2019 season.
Robinson, who died on Feb. 7, earned tributes from across the game when word spread of his passing. In addition to his legendary status with the Orioles, Robinson began his career with the Cincinnati Reds and was the first black manager when he led the the Cleveland Indians in 1975.
He was a trailblazer both on and off the field for black players in Major League Baseball, winning the National League Most Valuable Player Award in 1961 and then becoming the first player to win in both leagues when he won that award with the Orioles in 1966.
